How come you all have so strong beliefs but you don’t want to put them on the forum?

Biowizard, as you are a moderator on here you should point me in the right direction instead of asking me sarcastic 'what?

I wasnt sarcastic. I honestly didnt get your question, hence it was an inquisitic "what?"

I still dont know what you're on about with the "chat" comment.

Sorry, my English is not so good. What I meant: every time I log to philosophy chat there are so many people talking about interesting things. However, when I ask them to put it on the forum so we can have more structural discussion they decline. Forum on here is slow and I wonder why?

Ah!

That's because the philosophy hatroom forum is just for resolving chatroom related matters. Discussions happen in PCF.

What's your nickname in the chatroom? I havent seen you in there before.

I know / well, I suppose as this is my subjective opinion/ why your science forum is slow. But, I will not say it because I will be kicked out .

Hi Tess

I think the kind of interactions differ between the channel and the forum. Both provide opportunities for discussions and socialization but in different styles. The channel is immediate and has more socializing and intimacy in the discussions because of the real time nature of them. The forum allows for a slower more considered, longer, structured as you called them, discussions.

People are drawn to the different formats for different reasons depending on what they are looking for. Also, in the case of the channel I think many have become accustom to having the discussion there and just haven't broken out and given the forum format a try yet. During my years on the net I've done both but usually not both at the same time until now. :)

More and more of the forum users are giving the channel a try and even though you might not realize it there are a lot of the channel members signing up for the forums. Even if they haven't started posting just yet, they are checking this place out to see what's going on here. I expect as the forums get busier that the flow back and forth will continue to grow.

Give us time - PCF isn't even a year old!

The amount of posting here has increased a lot and it's just going to keep growing. The more it grows, the more new users and channel members it will attract. So keep up the good posting and keep on the channel chatters to give us a try. I've always thought that the forum would provide the channel with good material for discussions and it has been even if when you are around it doesn't always seem that way. ;)

Yeah, and that was the whole idea behind creating forums and chatrooms and interfacing everything. For something barely a year old, I think we're doing pretty well (certainly beyond what we expected).

There are so many brilliant people on chat with very interesting and fresh ideas. My question was why don’t they want to share them with bigger audience? I find this forum and chat very friendly, well run and stimulating.
It was not my intention to criticize but just to express my amazement.

It's ok, we can handle criticism :)

I think mtb's pretty much covered it though.
